Police Arrest Man for Selling Expired Powdered Milk

Katsina State Police Command has arrested a man over alleged adulteration and sale of expired powdered milk.

The suspect, Ibrahim Moh’d, was arrested in Funtua Local Government Area after a surveillance team from the Makera Division acted on intelligence on June 14, 2026.

Police say the suspect was caught with ten bags of powdered milk suspected to be expired. The arrest took place at about 11:30 am during a patrol operation.

Police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq said the suspect mixed expired milk with genuine stock and repackaged it for sale.

“Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have arrested one Ibrahim Moh’d, m, in Funtua Local Government Area for the suspected adulteration, re-packaging, and sale of expired, toxic powdered milk to unsuspecting members of the public,” the statement said.

“On June 14, 2026, at about 11:30 am, a surveillance patrol team attached to the Makera Division in Funtua, acting on actionable intelligence, intercepted and arrested the suspect.”

“He was found in possession of ten bags of powdered milk strongly suspected to be expired and entirely unfit for human consumption.”

Police said early findings show the suspect knowingly mixed expired products with good stock and repackaged them to deceive buyers.

The recovered items have been kept as evidence. The suspect remains in custody while investigation continues, and he is expected to face court charges after the case is completed.

Authorities say the alleged actions violate Sections 152 and 154 of the Penal Code Law 2021, which deal with unsafe food sales and false product representation.

The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, Ali Fage, warned traders against actions that put public health at risk.

Police also urged the public to report suspicious sales and business activities for quick action.
