Kantanka Security Services Suspended Over Alleged Security Breaches

Ministry of the Interior has suspended the operating licence of Kantanka Security Services Limited after alleged breaches involving uniforms and firearms.

The decision takes effect immediately and stops all operations while investigations continue.

The suspension follows reported incidents on Sunday, June 21, 2026, in Kwabenya, Accra. Security personnel from the company were allegedly seen using unapproved uniforms and carrying firearms and ammunition while on duty.

Preliminary findings suggest possible violations of the Police Service (Private Security Organisations) Regulations, 1992 (L.I. 1571).

The ministry said the alleged use of unauthorized uniforms and weapons raises serious public safety concerns. It also said such actions break existing security regulations in Ghana.

Kantanka Security Services Limited has been ordered to stop all operations immediately until investigations are completed.

The ministry also told individuals and institutions to suspend all dealings with the company for now.

The company has been instructed to cooperate fully with the Ghana Police Service and provide all required information.

Authorities said the suspension is a precautionary step to protect public safety. A final decision will be made after investigations.

The ministry also reminded private security firms to follow approved uniform and operational rules.
