Fred Amugi Says He Would Not Choose Marriage Again in Another Life
Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi has sparked discussion after sharing his thoughts on marriage during a conversation with gospel singer Piesie Esther.
He said marriage is one experience he would not repeat if given another chance at life.
He said:
“If, in my next life, I am asked what I would not want to repeat from this one, I would say marriage”
Fred Amugi explained that he would prefer strong friendships and companionship without formal marriage.
He said relationships do not always need to be made official through marriage.
He also added:
” I am not the type of person who takes my problems outside. Because of that, people think everything is perfect in my home. But if I were starting life again, marriage would not be something I would consider”
He spoke about how society has changed over time. He noted that in the past, women mostly stayed at home while men focused on education and work.
He said this has changed, as women now have equal access to education and careers.
He said:
“In the past, many women were not focused on careers or office work, so they were mostly at home. Today, whatever a man can study or achieve, a woman can do as well. These changes have also had an impact on the institution of marriage”
His comments have triggered mixed reactions online. Some people believe he is speaking from personal experience. Others see it as a general view on modern relationships and changing social norms.
