Mechanic Lured With Mercedes-Benz Repair Job, Hacked to Death Inside Bush

The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the suspected murder of an automotive mechanic identified as Samson, who was allegedly lured to the Abijo area of Ibeju-Lekki on Tuesday, September 15, under the pretext of repairing a faulty Mercedes-Benz.

Samson, who operated a mechanic workshop around the Warike Estate area of the community, was reportedly taken into a bush shortly after arriving at the location where he was told the vehicle was parked. He was allegedly attacked and hacked to death.

A source familiar with the incident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victim had been contacted to repair the vehicle.

“The victim was lured to the location on the pretext of going to repair a Mercedes-Benz car. We were told that when he got there, he was taken into the bush and killed,” the source said.

The source added that investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.

There were also allegations that suspected cult members may have been involved in the killing, with claims that the deceased was himself a member of a cult group. However, the allegation has not been independently established.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the police initially received a report from Samson’s family after he went missing and could not be reached.

Adebisi said detectives subsequently visited the victim’s apartment and commenced efforts to trace his whereabouts, including attempts to track his mobile phone.

The police investigation is ongoing.
