A pastor has won admiration online after making an unusual announcement to his congregation, inviting anyone struggling to afford food for the next day to come forward and take whatever amount they needed straight from the church offering.

Speaking to the church after service, he made the offer plainly, telling members that if feeding themselves or their families was going to be a challenge, they shouldn’t hesitate to step forward and pick out what they required.

At first, only a handful of people got up, visibly hesitant to be seen admitting they were struggling in front of the rest of the congregation.

Sensing their reluctance, the pastor pressed further, urging them to set aside their shyness and trust that no one would judge them for coming forward.

His encouragement worked, and slowly more members began rising from their seats, walking up to take what they needed without the embarrassment that had held them back moments earlier.
