‘I Should Have Stayed and Fought for My Marriage’ – Woman Opens Up About Divorce Regret

A Ghanaian woman has opened up about one of the biggest regrets of her life, revealing that she wishes she had handled her husband’s infidelity differently instead of ending their marriage.

Speaking in an interview shared on social media, the woman reflected on the collapse of her marriage and admitted that, with the benefit of experience and maturity, she now believes she acted too quickly.

According to her, her husband became involved with another woman, a situation that ultimately led to the breakdown of their relationship.

However, she said she now feels she should have exercised more patience and worked towards saving the marriage rather than walking away.

“Someone took my husband. At that time, I wasn’t experienced like this and I was young. I should have taken my time because my husband and I did a wedding,” she said.

The woman explained that her youthful age and lack of experience influenced the decisions she made during that difficult period.

Looking back, she believes she should have focused on reconciliation, prayer, and counselling instead of ending the marriage.

“So, I should have taken my time and prayed and advised him to stay in the marriage without leaving. The person was a side chick, so I left, and I have regretted leaving the marriage,” she stated.

She further revealed that the situation became even more challenging because her former husband’s family reportedly sided with the other woman during the conflict.

Despite that experience, she maintains that she should have remained patient and allowed more time for the relationship to heal.

“I have regretted leaving the marriage even though his family supported the other girl, but I should have waited,” she added.

Her comments have generated mixed reactions online, with some people agreeing that marriages should be given every opportunity to survive difficult moments, while others argue that infidelity can permanently damage trust and make reconciliation difficult.

Relationship experts often note that every marriage is unique and that decisions about staying or leaving after betrayal depend on individual circumstances, personal values, and the willingness of both partners to rebuild trust.

For the woman, however, the experience remains a painful lesson that continues to shape her perspective on love, marriage, and forgiveness.
