‘You Are Disconnected From Reality’ – NDC Knocks Oshiomhole Over Comments On Peter Obi

The Director of New Media and Strategic Communications for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Theo Abu Agada, has countered the submission by Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, that the party’s 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, would not get as many votes in the forthcoming elections as he got in 2023.

Speaking during the Mic On podcast by Seun Okinbaloye, the former Governor of Edo State claimed that Peter Obi couldn’t handle the insecurity when he was Governor of Anambra State.

He added that President Bola Tinubu would defeat Obi hands down in the 2027 elections.

“When I was Governor, my state was safer than Anambra under Obi. If Obi couldn’t fix Anambra State, he couldn’t control the Bakassi Boys, who got out of control.

“Tinubu will win in 2027 hands down, and this boy will not get the votes he got before,” he said.

Naija News reports that in a quick response, Agada, however, said the statement from Oshiomhole shows a total disconnection from reality.

The NDC chieftain said Nigerians are burdened by hardship caused by the government of President Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and are ready to vote Obi and NDC in 2027.

He described Obi as the leading presidential candidate going into the 2027 elections, urging Oshiomhole to wake up to reality.

While expressing belief that the NDC would emerge victorious in the 2027 polls, Agada added that it is up to Nigerians, and not Oshiomhole, to choose their next leader.

“Senator Adams Oshiomhole, the decision to vote for the NDC and by extension, our party’s presidential candidate, HE Peter Obi rests solely with the Nigerian people.

“For the past 11 years, your party has failed them. This is not rhetorics, it is the lived reality of millions of citizens burdened by hardship, broken promises, and deepening despair.

“Many Nigerians who voted for opposition parties in 2023 did not anticipate, let alone experience, the scale of economic pain and governance failure that has since unfolded.

“Yet today, as more citizens become politically conscious and profoundly disenchanted with the ruling party, you suggest that the leading opposition Party’s candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, will somehow command fewer votes?

“Your position, Adams, reflects a disconnect from realities.

“Oshiomhole, it is time to wake up and smell the coffee. What is coming is heavy and a thousand men like you or anyone else cannot stop it.

“An idea whose time has come is unstoppable. The wind of change is gathering strength, and no amount of denial or political manoeuvring can reverse it.

“In 2027, the NDC will form the next government of Nigeria. We will work diligently for the Nigerian people, restore hope, and deliver the future they truly deserve.

“The choice belongs to the people and not you Oshiomhole,” Agada wrote on his 𝕏 Account.
