According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), four Iranian drones were seen heading towards the Strait of Hormuz and were shot down by US forces before reaching their targets.
Following the incident, radar stations in southern Iran were attacked by US warplanes, a move interpreted by analysts as a stern warning to Tehran.
The attacks prompted Iran to launch seven ballistic missiles at US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. Air defense systems in those countries were immediately activated, and according to the Pentagon, six missiles were intercepted in the air, with one missile failing to reach its target.
The US military confirmed that no US troops were injured in the incident, which reduced fears of casualties but remained a sign of the high risk of continued fighting.
