Use Inducement Funds For Development – Bayelsa NDC Tells Gov Diri

The Bayelsa State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged Governor Douye Diri to embrace inclusive governance and prioritise the welfare of residents above political interests.

Naija News reports that the state Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Dauprebo Ikuromo, made the call while speaking with journalists in Yenagoa.

Ikuromo warned the state government against alleged attempts to lure NDC aspirants with financial inducements in order to create division within the party.

He called on the government to “avoid attempts to entice NDC aspirants with financial incentives designed to create rifts within the party.”

According to him, “no form of inducement can divert the NDC from its objective of assuming leadership in the state.”

The NDC chairman said resources allegedly being used for political inducement should be channelled into addressing urgent development challenges in Bayelsa.

He specifically cited the issue of commissioned but non-operational gas turbines, saying such projects should receive government attention.

Ikuromo urged the Diri administration to focus on policies and programmes that would promote sustainable development, economic growth and improved welfare for Bayelsans.

Responding to reports of discontent within the party, Ikuromo said a comprehensive grievance redress mechanism had been established under the leadership of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.

He added that the party’s National Executive Council would release the list of candidates for various positions within the timeframe set by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Ikuromo commended Dickson for what he described as exemplary leadership during the party’s primary elections.

He said Dickson managed the process nationwide with fairness, tact and wisdom, ensuring equal opportunities for aspirants.

The Bayelsa NDC also praised Dickson’s commitment to the inclusion of youths and women in the primaries, describing it as consistent with affirmative action and wider political participation.

Ikuromo called on NDC members and supporters across Bayelsa State to remain united and focused.

He said the party was determined to take over governance from what he described as a ruling party that had failed the nation.
