I Cannot See Yet – Elliot Speaks On Who Can Replace President Tinubu
Lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, has said he does not currently see any political figure who appears ready to take over from President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during an interview with Morayo Afolabi, the actor-turned-politician shared his views on Nigeria’s political future, leadership changes, governance and his years in public office.
Naija News reports that he also spoke about projects and developments recorded in his constituency during his time in office.
According to Elliot, the country is yet to produce a visible political figure who can step into the position currently occupied by President Tinubu.
He said that, from his perspective, no individual has clearly emerged as the next leader capable of succeeding the president.
“I’m thinking, okay, who is the next saviour that can remove Asiwaju from what he’s doing presently? I cannot see yet.
“We have to define our own style of democracy. Let’s have a 30 year plan, for instance.
“We will all die one day. We are not here forever. You are in that particular place for a reason, not because you are better than the next person. Trust me, there are way better people than you.
“I’ll say power. If you look at Surulere 10 years ago, it was a horrible place to live in. Today, electricity is one of the best you can find anywhere else,” The lawmaker said.
