I Went To My Friend With NTA And Said “Can You Help Me Dub This Thing” He said Madam Is Around -Ejiro

Veteran filmmaker Zeb Ejiro, widely celebrated as the “Father of Nollywood,” has recounted how an unexpected act of kindness from a friend at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) became a turning point in his career after several companies rejected his first movie.

Ejiro shared the story during an interview on The Legacy Series, on Thursday, 25 June, 2026, where he reflected on the difficult journey to getting his work noticed. He explained that after being turned away by dozens of companies despite producing what many described as an impressive film, he sought help from a friend who worked at NTA in the hope of giving his project another chance.

Narrating the experience, Ejiro said: “I went to one of my friends who was working with NTA then, the guy’s name is Ijeuwa. I said Ijeuwa can you help me to dub. Ijeuwa was worig with Director of Programming Dr Victoria Ezeokoli at that point in time. I now told Ijeuwa can you help me dub this thing let me still try some companies. Ijeuwa now said the only way I can dub it is that I will have to go to Madams office and Madam is around I can’t do it but if you can leave the tape with me, when Madam goes out, I will be able to dub it for you. I said okay, I will leave it.”
