BREAKING: Man City Submit Opening Offer For Enzo Maresca’s First Signing

According to a report by Football Transfer on Thursday June 4, 2026, Manchester City have reportedly submitted their first offer for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, with transfer expert David Ornstein revealing that the Premier League champions have intensified their pursuit ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old has emerged as City’s leading midfield target after an impressive campaign with Forest. Club officials had hoped to complete a deal before the 2026 World Cup, although that objective now appears increasingly difficult to achieve.

Anderson enjoyed an outstanding season at the City Ground, attracting interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United. Despite the competition, City quickly established themselves as favourites to secure his signature this summer.

The former Newcastle United midfielder is viewed as a potential replacement for Bernardo Silva and has been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium. He contributed nine goals and assists across 50 appearances in all competitions last season.

Anderson is also expected to become the first signing under incoming manager Enzo Maresca. Although the Italian has not yet been officially confirmed as Pep Guardiola’s successor, his appointment is expected to be announced soon.

According to Ornstein, City have now taken concrete action by lodging an opening bid for Anderson. However, Nottingham Forest immediately rejected the proposal as they aim to maximise the fee for one of their most valuable assets.

Reports suggest Forest could demand more than €120 million before considering a sale. While the value of City’s initial offer remains undisclosed, it fell short of the club’s expectations and was swiftly turned down.

Forest would prefer to keep Anderson for at least one more season, but there is recognition that a departure may become unavoidable if a club meets their asking price during the summer transfer window.
