World Cup 2026: Lamine Yamal Sends Message to Ronaldo, Neymar After World Cup Exit

Spain winger Lamine Yamal has described Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar as two of the biggest inspirations for his generation, following the pair’s exit from the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

The Barcelona youngster made the remarks during an interview with Mundo Deportivo ahead of Spain’s quarter-final clash against Belgium on Friday.

Yamal acknowledged the immense influence both football stars have had on young players around the world, saying they have remained role models since his childhood.

“Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar have been key figures for my generation since we were kids. I wish them all the best,” Yamal said.

The 19-year-old’s comments came after Portugal and Brazil were knocked out of the tournament in the Round of 16.

Portugal, led by veteran captain Cristiano Ronaldo, suffered elimination after a defeat to Spain, while Neymar’s Brazil crashed out following a loss to Norway, ending both nations’ hopes of reaching the quarter-finals.

With Portugal and Brazil out of the competition, Yamal and Spain will now shift their focus to their last-eight encounter against Belgium as they continue their quest for World Cup glory.

Despite the disappointment for Ronaldo and Neymar, Yamal’s tribute highlights the lasting impact both players have had on the current generation of footballers, many of whom grew up watching their achievements at club and international level.
