Man Survives After Falling From 12-Storey Apartment As Woman He Landed On Dies

A 23-year-old woman has died after a man fell from a high-rise apartment building and landed on top of her while she was walking along a pavement in Nagoya, Japan.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred at about 1 a.m. on July 19 in Sakae, a busy commercial and entertainment district in central Nagoya.

According to reports, the woman was walking with a friend when a 29-year-old man fell from a 12-storey apartment building and struck her.

Emergency responders rushed both victims to a nearby hospital after receiving reports that a man had fallen and hit a pedestrian.

The woman later died from haemorrhagic shock, while the man survived the fall but remains unconscious in critical condition.

Authorities said the woman’s friend, who was with her at the time of the incident, escaped without injuries.

Police have not yet determined whether the man fell accidentally or intentionally and have also not confirmed the exact floor from which he fell.

Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including why the man was at the apartment building.

Local media reported that the man was not a resident of the building, prompting further inquiries into the reason for his presence at the property before the fall.

The incident has shocked residents of Sakae, a district well known for its shopping centres, restaurants and nightlife, as police continue their investigation into the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
