Woman shot dead after argument with police officer boyfriend
A police officer has been arrested after allegedly shooting his girlfriend dead following an argument in Kenya.
The victim, identified as 45-year-old Doris Murei Nandi, was killed at a General Service Unit (GSU) Mess compound in Naiberi, Uasin Gishu County, on Sunday evening, August 30, 2026.
The suspect has been identified as Police Constable Nathan Kirwa. He also works as a bodyguard for Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii.
According to police, Nandi was at the compound at around 5pm when an argument reportedly broke out between her and Kirwa.
The disagreement allegedly became more serious before Kirwa fired his weapon, hitting Nandi several times.
She died at the scene.
Senior security officials, including Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Wilberforce Sicharani, went to the scene with forensic investigators.
Officers recovered seven spent 9mm cartridges, a rifle holster and a Toyota Corolla 110. Police believe the items belonged to the suspect.
Nandi’s body was taken to the Eldoret Hospital Mortuary. A postmortem examination is expected to be carried out as part of the investigation.
Police said Kirwa initially fled the scene following the shooting but was later arrested.
According to Commander Sicharani, the suspect is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
