Wizkid Says He Spent Up to $400 Daily on Nigerian Food While Living in the US

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has revealed that his love for Nigerian cuisine made his stay in the United States difficult, disclosing that he spent between $300 and $400 every day just to enjoy meals from home.

The Grammy Award-winning singer made the revelation during a recent interview, where he spoke about his lifestyle and his strong attachment to Nigerian food despite his international success.

According to Wizkid, he became bored during the two years he lived in the United States because he could not easily access the Nigerian dishes he craved.

To satisfy his appetite for familiar meals, the singer said he consistently spent hundreds of dollars daily to have Nigerian food delivered or prepared.

“I only eat Nigerian food everywhere I go. I got bored staying in the USA for two years because I wasn’t getting Nigerian food as much as I wanted.”

Wizkid added that maintaining his preferred diet came at a significant cost.

“I used to spend $300 to $400 every single day for two years in the US just to have a taste of Nigerian food.”

Despite his global fame, designer wardrobe, and luxurious lifestyle, the Afrobeats star insisted that he remains deeply connected to his roots.

Describing himself as “a local boy,” Wizkid said material possessions have never changed his personal preferences or identity.

“I’m a local boy o. Forget all this Louis Vuitton, Gucci stuff. I love what I love, you know. You can take the boy out of the ghetto, but you cannot take the ghetto out of the boy.”

The singer’s remarks have sparked reactions on social media, with many fans praising him for staying true to his Nigerian heritage, while others expressed amusement at the amount he claimed to have spent on Nigerian food during his stay in the United States.
