Wike Tackles ADC Over ‘Nigerians Won’t Eat Roads’ Comment

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) had admitted that President Bola Tinubu had performed well in road infrastructure.

Wike stated this while reacting to the ADC’s comment that Nigerians “won’t eat roads alone.”

He spoke during the commissioning of the interchange at Arterial Road N16 and Ring Road III Intersection, linking Jahi District to Gwarimpa District in the FCT.

President Bola Tinubu was represented at the event by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

Wike said the opposition party’s statement showed that it acknowledged the administration’s achievements in road development.

“I got the news of the press release by the ADC to the Presidency that we are not going to eat roads alone. Beautiful, ADC has agreed that in terms of road infrastructures, Mr President has done very well,” he said.

“Let us start with the one that indeed Mr President has done very well.”

The minister said road infrastructure remained central to development in any society.

According to him, roads connect citizens to schools, farms, hospitals and economic opportunities.

“Let them also know that without road you can’t go to school, farm, and hospital. Road is the bedrock, engine of development in any part of this world,” Wike added.
