Widow Responds to People Telling Her Not to Remarry

A widow has spoken out against advice from people who have told her not to remarry but to focus only on raising her children.

The mother said she appreciates their concern, but she believes she also deserves the chance to find love and build a life for herself.

According to her, people told her that men cannot be trusted and that another man might not take good care of her children.

She questioned how they could be so sure about what her future would look like.

She wrote:

“After I lost my husband, many people advised me to focus only on my children.

“They said, ‘Men are not good. Men are not reliable. The next man will not take care of your children.’

“I am grateful for their concern, but I keep wondering—how do they know?

“My question is simple: After I spend years taking care of these children, who will take care of me in the next 15 years?

“Should I remain alone in the house? My boys will grow up and have families and lives of their own. Will you come and stay with me then?

“I love my children, but I also have a life to live.

“I am sharing this for every widow who has received this kind of advice. What are your thoughts?”
