WASSCE Students Caught on Camera Vandalising School Properties, Destroying Books and Furniture After Completing Exams

A video showing Ghanaian students vandalising school property smashing furniture and scattering books across a school compound has gone viral on social media.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation after the students were seen celebrating the completion of a West African Senior School Certificate Examination paper in a destructive manner.

In the footage, students dressed in teal green school uniforms are seen hurling wooden desks and chairs from the school building, tearing up books and papers, and scattering debris across the school’s grounds.

Other students are visible watching from the upper floor balcony of the two-storey school block as the chaos unfolds below.

The school’s compound is shown littered with shredded papers, broken furniture, and torn books, the aftermath of what appeared to be a coordinated act of end-of-paper celebration that quickly escalated into significant destruction of school property.

The specific school and its location had not been officially confirmed at the time of publication.

However, the incident is consistent with a recurring pattern observed across Ghana during WASSCE periods, where some students have been known to engage in destructive behaviour following the conclusion of examination papers.

The Ghana Education Service and the West African Examinations Council had not issued official statements addressing the incident at the time of this report.
