Tinubu gave my brother appointment because of Peter Obi – Isaac Fayose

Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has questioned the recent appointment of his elder brother as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), suggesting the timing of the decision raises questions.

In a video shared on his Facebook page, Isaac Fayose wondered why the appointment came shortly after the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, visited the former governor.

President Bola Tinubu on Monday announced the appointment of Ayodele Fayose as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, a move that has generated reactions in political circles.

Reacting to the development, Isaac Fayose questioned why the appointment had not been made earlier if his brother was considered suitable for the position.

“Just days after Mr Peter Obi visited me, they appointed my brother as a DG. Why didn’t they give him the appointment all these while?” he said.

He also compared the appointment with those of other political figures, arguing that some individuals had been given what he considered more prominent roles.

“They didn’t even make him a minister or ambassador. Even Reno Omokri, who was never a governor, was appointed an ambassador.”

Isaac further disclosed that his brother had previously told him he had no intention of taking up positions such as senator, minister, or director-general after leaving office as governor.

“My brother once told me that after leaving Government House, he wouldn’t become a senator, minister, or DG.”

Despite his reservations, Isaac Fayose said the decision ultimately rests with his brother and that he would respect whatever choice he makes.

“I know he may not accept the appointment, but if he does, who am I to question him,” he added.

The appointment of Ayodele Fayose to chair the Rural Electrification Agency has continued to attract public attention, although the former governor has yet to publicly state whether he will accept the position.
