The world will not stop when you d!e – Catholic priest reveals how Archbishop's office was occupied by another person 24 hours after his d3ath

Nigerian Catholic priest, Rev. Kelvin Ugwu, has advised people not to overestimate their importance, noting that the world does not stop when one d!es.

He stated this in a Facebook post on Monday, August 17, 2026 following the swift succession process after the d3ath of Archbishop Akubueze of the Archdiocese of Benin.

According to Rev. Ugwu, Archbishop Akubueze’s position was occupied by another person less than 24 hours after his d3ath.

He noted that the world may pause to mourn when one passes away but life goes on.

“Archbishop Akubeze of the Archdiocese of Benin died on Thursday, July 9, at the age of 69. He d!ed in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States, while on vacation,” he wrote

“According to reports, he passed away peacefully in his sleep.

“The following day, Friday, July 10, a new Apostolic Administrator for the Archdiocese was announced. Most Rev. Donatus Ogun, Bishop of Uromi, stepped in immediately.

“In less than 24 hours after his d3ath, the office he occupied was already occupied by another. His body had not even returned to Nigeria.

“Learn from this, the world may stop to mourn you, but it will not stop because of you. Don’t overestimate yourself.”
