SHOCKING NEWS: FRESH TROUBLE FOR TINUBU? Group Drags INEC Into Explosive Certificate Battle Ahead of 2027 Election

A fresh political storm may be brewing ahead of the 2027 presidential election as a civil society group has formally petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), demanding a fresh review of questions surrounding the educational credentials submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 election.

The development has reignited one of Nigeria’s most controversial political debates and could set the stage for another major legal showdown as preparations for the next election cycle gradually begin.

According to reports, the petition was submitted by the Center for Reform and Public Advocacy through a team of lawyers led by Kalu Agu. The group is requesting that INEC publicly clarify the legal implications of documents submitted by President Tinubu in his Form EC9 during the 2023 presidential race.

In the petition dated June 19, the advocacy group alleged that certain documents linked to the president’s academic and service records require further scrutiny. The group claimed that information obtained during legal proceedings in the United States in 2023 raised questions they believe should be addressed before the 2027 elections.

The petitioners argued that Nigerians deserve clarity on the matter and urged the electoral body to openly state its legal position regarding the issues raised.

The controversy centers on allegations previously debated in political and legal circles, with the group insisting that INEC should determine whether the concerns have any constitutional implications for future elections.
