“She Sold My Father’s Properties And Ignored Us” – Mr Ibu’s Son Accuses Stepmom Stella Of Taking Control Of Late Actor’s Assets

Fresh controversy has emerged within the family of late Nollywood legend John Okafor, following allegations made by one of his sons, Okafor Somotochukwu, against his stepmother, Stella.

In a statement circulating online, Somotochukwu, who identified himself as the third son and fourth child of the late actor, challenged claims that Stella’s children were the only children left behind by Mr Ibu.

According to him, the actor had several children, both older and younger than him, and he felt compelled to speak out because he believed the narrative being presented publicly was unfair to the rest of the family.

Alleges Properties Were Sold Without Involving Other Children

Somotochukwu alleged that after Mr Ibu’s passing, Stella took control of the late actor’s assets and properties.

He claimed that a Lagos property was sold for ₦60 million without other children being carried along in the process. He further alleged that an Enugu property was sold for about ₦17 million and another property in Asaba for ₦11 million.

According to him, despite the reported sales, he received only ₦40,000 from Stella, which he said was presented as a gift rather than a share of the proceeds.

Raises Concerns Over Donations Received During Illness

The late actor’s son also referenced funds reportedly donated by Nigerians during Mr Ibu’s health challenges, alleging that significant amounts of money were raised before his father’s death.

He expressed frustration over his financial struggles, claiming he was unable to clear his school fees and access his WAEC results despite the existence of assets and funds left behind by his father.

The allegations come shortly after reports emerged that Stella had appealed for financial assistance, citing challenges facing her household and children.

Somotochukwu’s statement has since generated debate online, with many Nigerians calling for transparency regarding the late actor’s estate, while others have urged both parties to resolve the matter privately.
