Poll Finds 23% Of Israelis Considering Leaving athe country If Netanyahu Reelected As Prime Minister

According to a report by the Times of Israel on Saturday July 18, 2026, a new Israeli television poll shows that a clear majority of respondents oppose a series of laws recently approved by the governing coalition, while nearly one in four say they or a close relative are considering leaving the country if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is returned to office.

According to the Channel 12 survey, 67 percent of those questioned said they opposed the legislation passed this week. The measures include a law that gives Torah study quasi-constitutional status and another aimed at protecting ultra-Orthodox men who avoid military service from being arrested.

Support for the legislation was considerably lower, with 21 percent of respondents backing the measures. The remaining participants said they were undecided or did not express a clear opinion.

The poll also explored public sentiment about Israel’s political future. It found that 23 percent of respondents said they or a member of their family were considering leaving the country if Netanyahu is reelected as prime minister.

By comparison, 68 percent said neither they nor their relatives were thinking about emigrating under that scenario, while the remaining respondents said they were unsure.
