NOA Osun commemorates National Ordinance Day 2026, urges Nigerians on discipline

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Osun State Directorate, has called on Nigerians to embrace discipline, patriotism, integrity, national unity and respect for constituted authority as the nation commemorates the 2026 National Ordinance Day.

In a statement issued in Osogbo, signed by the NOA Osun Directorate Public Relations Officer, Bunmi Olaseinde, the State Director of the agency, Mr. Adebiyi Adefarasin Stephen, described the Day as a significant opportunity for citizens to reflect on the core values that bind the nation together and to renew their commitment to responsible citizenship.

He reaffirmed the Agency’s dedication to promoting positive attitudinal change in line with the National Values Charter, stressing that national development can only be achieved when citizens internalise and practise the virtues of honesty, orderliness and respect for the rule of law.

As part of the commemoration, Mr. Adebiyi urged Nigerians to obey lawful ordinances, rules and regulations, uphold law and order, and demonstrate responsible citizenship in their daily conduct.

He also emphasised the need for citizens to respect and properly handle all national symbols, including the National Flag, Coat of Arms, National Anthem, National Pledge, the Naira, the Nigerian Passport and other emblems of the country’s sovereignty.

The State Director warned that the abuse, defacement or improper handling of the Naira, Passport, Flag and other national symbols is unpatriotic and may attract sanctions under relevant laws.

He disclosed that the Directorate would intensify sensitisation campaigns across all 30 Local Government Areas of Osun State through community engagements, school outreaches, market sensitisation and media advocacy.

Mr. Adebiyi further called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth and women groups, civil society organisations and the media to partner with the agency in building a society anchored on discipline, patriotism, responsible citizenship and respect for the rule of law.

The National Ordinance Day is observed annually to remind Nigerians of the importance of orderliness, civic responsibility and loyalty to national institutions.
