NDLEA nabs six drug peddlers in Bayero varsity

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has raided the Bayero University Kano (BUK), Old Site area, arresting six trespassers involved in illicit drug activities and dismantling several drug joints.

Acting on a formal complaint from the management of BUK, the command moved swiftly under “Operation Sharar Mafaka” to dislodge individuals who had been using parts of the university precincts and adjacent areas for the trading and consumption of illicit substances.

Six suspects were arrested during the operation and items associated with the illegal activities were seized.

“This action demonstrates our commitment to ensuring a drug‑free environment where students, staff and their families can live and work in safety,” said the Commander in-charge of Kano NDLEA Strategic Command, D.Y Lawal.

He added: “We will never relent. We will continue to dislodge and occupy all drug joints under Operation Sharar Mafaka.”

Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, and the Public Relations Officer of the Command, noted that: “The raid underscores the effectiveness of collaboration between the NDLEA and institutional partners. The University’s prompt reporting and cooperation enabled a targeted response that removed an immediate threat to campus safety and community wellbeing.

“The NDLEA Kano Strategic Command reiterates its warning to anyone leveraging government or educational establishments to trade or consume illicit drugs: such activities will not be tolerated. The command calls on community members and institutions to report suspicious activities so that remaining drug havens can be identified and dismantled.”
