Massive Landslide In Nepal Captured On Camera As Part Of Community ‘Collapses’
A dramatic video showing the devastating impact of a massive landslide in Nepal has surfaced online, with the footage capturing what appears to be a huge section of a mountainside collapsing.
The video shows a small settlement surrounded by steep, forest-covered mountains before a massive flow of earth, rocks and debris tears through the landscape.
The scale and speed of the collapse have left viewers stunned, with the scene making it appear as though an entire section of the mountain has suddenly given way.
The footage is linked to the catastrophic landslide and debris-flow disaster that struck northern Nepal on August 26, 2026, near the border with China.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the disaster began with a rapid slope failure involving a glacier in Langtang National Park.
The resulting debris flow travelled nearly 100 kilometres downstream, affecting communities and infrastructure along the Lende Khola and Trishuli Khola rivers.
Scientists later found evidence that a huge section of rock and ice detached from the mountain. Research published in Nature described the event as a large rock-ice collapse that triggered a destructive chain of debris flow and flooding.
The disaster caused widespread destruction across the region, with more than 1,200 people reported killed and thousands missing in subsequent assessments.
