Man Allegedly Sets Family House Ablaze At Bekwai Kokofu Adwumam After Being Asked To Vacate

A man has allegedly set a family house on fire at Bekwai Kokofu Adwumam in the Ashanti Region after being asked to vacate the property so that relatives could renovate and rent it out.

According to eyewitness accounts, the man initially resisted the family’s request to leave, citing a lack of alternative accommodation. The family reportedly responded by offering him a container as temporary housing, an arrangement he accepted. He was then given three days to remove his belongings from the room.

On the final day of the agreed period, the man reportedly informed family members that he was burning something inside the room. Shortly after, a fire broke out and engulfed the house, destroying property and gutting the building the family had intended to renovate.

Footage from the scene shows the exterior of the badly burnt structure, with charred walls, a collapsed roofline, scorched debris scattered across the compound, and fire still visible through a window, indicating the blaze was either still active or had only recently been brought under control when the video was recorded.

It remains unclear whether the fire was deliberately set or accidentally started. The extent of losses sustained by the family has not been confirmed.
