Mahama Ayariga Publicly Confirms Marriage to Fellow MP Millicent Yeboah Amankwah
Mahama Ayariga has publicly confirmed that Sunyani West MP Millicent Yeboah Amankwah is his wife.
The confirmation happened during Ayariga’s parliamentary vetting on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Ayariga appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee following his nomination as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
During the proceedings, First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor acknowledged the relatives who had accompanied Ayariga to Parliament House in Accra.
After recognising Ayariga’s father-in-law and daughter, Ahiafor introduced Millicent Yeboah Amankwah as Ayariga’s spouse.
The announcement drew smiles and applause from people inside the parliamentary chamber.
Ayariga also introduced the Sunyani West legislator as his wife during the vetting.
The public confirmation ended months of speculation about the relationship between the two politicians. Videos showing them together at public events had previously circulated on social media.
Details about their wedding ceremony, including its date and location, have not been made public. However, Ayariga reportedly indicated that the marriage was recent.
Ayariga represents Bawku Central in Parliament, while his wife represents Sunyani West.
Both politicians are members of the National Democratic Congress.
The marriage makes them one of Ghana’s political couples currently serving together in Parliament.
