Seven young Nigerian women from Plateau, Cross River, and Edo States have been rescued from suspected human trafficking networks operating across Mali, Burkina Faso, and Côte d’Ivoire.
The coordinated rescue operation was carried out through a joint effort involving anti-trafficking organisations and Nigerian authorities, with support from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), which also handled the victims’ repatriation and initial rehabilitation upon their return.
According to officials, the development has once again raised concerns about the growing activities of trafficking syndicates across West Africa, where vulnerable young women are often lured with promises of legitimate employment opportunities, only to end up in exploitative situations….... >>>>
