JUST IN: If I Become The Next Rivers State Governor, I Will Reconcile With Wike – Blessing Fubara

The brother of Rivers State governor Sim Fubara, Blessing Fubara, a governorship aspirant of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in Rivers State, has stated that he would pursue reconciliation with former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, if elected governor.

He made the remark during an appearance on Arise News Prime Time, where he discussed the prolonged political crisis that has dominated Rivers State in recent years.

The crisis, which has largely centered on the political conflict between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Wike, has generated intense debate and division within the state’s political landscape.

Speaking on how he would approach governance if given the opportunity to lead the state, Blessing Fubara emphasized the importance of reconciliation and dialogue.

He said: “If I become Rivers State governor in the next election, I will reconcile with Wike.”

According to him, the political disagreements that have shaped the state’s recent history should not be allowed to continue indefinitely.

Fubara argued that reconciliation is both necessary and achievable, stressing that effective governance requires cooperation among key stakeholders rather than constant political confrontation.

He maintained that Rivers people are more concerned about development, economic opportunities, and improved living conditions than prolonged political disputes.

He also noted that attracting investment and promoting growth would be difficult in an environment characterized by continuous political tension.

As a result, he said his administration would prioritize engagement, consultation, and dialogue with influential figures across the political spectrum.

He added that leadership should focus on solving problems and advancing the interests of citizens rather than sustaining personal or political rivalries.

According to him, Rivers State can only achieve its full potential when its leaders work together in the interest of peace, development, and the welfare of the people.
