Jubilation in Oyo as Abducted Family Regains Freedom After Sunday Igboho’s Ultimatum

Residents of Igboho community in Oyo State have reportedly celebrated the release of a kidnapped family, including a pregnant woman, her children, and a sibling, following a stern ultimatum issued by Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

The development comes days after widespread outrage over reports of kidnapping and killings in the area, including the alleged murder of a pregnant woman and her sibling during a ransom-related incident.

Reacting to the situation, Sunday Igboho had publicly issued a two-hour ultimatum to Fulani leaders in the community, demanding the immediate release of the victims and the recovery of the body of the slain pregnant woman.

The activist accused certain criminal elements within the Fulani community of being involved in a series of abductions targeting residents of the area.

Expressing anger over the reported killing of a ransom bearer and a victim, Igboho condemned the incident and warned that such acts would no longer be tolerated.

“The person who brought the ransom, you still killed him and spared only one person,” he said while addressing community members.

He further cautioned Fulani leaders in the area to ensure that such incidents do not occur again.

“I am Sunday Igboho. I am calm because my fathers asked me to be calm with you. Let this be the last time such a thing will happen,” he declared.

Shortly after the ultimatum expired, videos circulating on social media showed jubilant residents celebrating what was described as the release of the abducted family.

The footage captured community members expressing relief and gratitude following reports that the victims had regained their freedom.

However, details surrounding the circumstances of their release remain unclear, and authorities have yet to provide an official account of how the victims were freed.

The identities of the kidnappers and whether any arrests have been made were also not immediately known as of the time of filing this report.

The incident has once again drawn attention to growing concerns over insecurity, kidnapping, and violent crimes in parts of Oyo State and other regions of the country.
