“If You Study Robotics, Nuclear Engineering or Philosophy, Just Start Yahoo” – Seun Kuti

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has stirred debate online after making a controversial statement about the challenges facing talented young Nigerians.

Speaking during a discussion about opportunities available to young people in the country, Seun Kuti suggested that highly skilled individuals often struggle to find an environment where their talents can thrive.

According to him:

“If you are a young guy talented in robotics or nuclear engineering or philosophy. Just go and start yahoo, because there is nothing for you here in Nigeria.”

Reacting supporters argued that Seun Kuti was highlighting the frustration experienced by many educated and talented youths who face limited opportunities despite their qualifications.

Critics, however, maintained that no circumstance justifies promoting criminal activity, even as a joke or expression of frustration.
