‘I Spent On Your Obi, Has He Come To Say Thank You’ – Isaac Fayose Laments Lack Of Appreciation From Peter Obi, Defends Meeting With Seyi Tinubu

Businessman and social commentator, Isaac Fayose, has expressed disappointment over what he described as Peter Obi’s failure to acknowledge or appreciate the support he claimed to have given during the 2023 presidential election campaign.

Fayose made the remarks in a video shared on Friday while responding to criticism that followed his recent meeting with Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu.

The businessman said his support for Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, came at a personal cost, insisting that he invested both time and resources into the campaign without receiving any form of appreciation from the former Anambra State governor.

According to Fayose, he made significant contributions to the Obidient movement by providing one of his hotels for campaign supporters and participating in campaign-related activities.

Questioning why some supporters were attacking him over his meeting with Seyi Tinubu, Fayose said he had done more than many of those now criticising him.

“Do you know how much I spent on the last election? Do you know how much I spent on your Obi? I even gave you people my hotel. I even came to the protest,” he said.

He added that despite the sacrifices he claimed to have made for Obi’s presidential bid, the former governor had never reached out to thank him.

“Seyi is a good boy. He removed his cap and appreciated me. Has Obi come to greet me since I started campaigning? Has Obi come to say thank you? Did you people send me the work?” Fayose asked.

Fayose Defends Meeting With Seyi Tinubu

Addressing the backlash over his interaction with Seyi Tinubu, Fayose maintained that there was nothing inappropriate about the meeting, stressing that political differences should not translate into personal hostility.

He described Seyi Tinubu as respectful and commended him for showing humility and appreciation during their encounter.

According to Fayose, supporting one political candidate does not prevent an individual from maintaining cordial relationships with people from other political backgrounds.

He argued that politics should not be viewed as a permanent basis for division, adding that mutual respect should exist regardless of party affiliation.

Criticises Some Obidient Supporters

Fayose also criticised some members of the Obidient movement, accusing them of expecting others to bear the burden of political activism while contributing little themselves.

According to him, genuine political change requires commitment and sacrifice from supporters rather than relying on a few individuals.

“You people are not even worth it. You are there waiting for my own people to liberate you when you can liberate yourselves,” he said.

He urged political supporters to take greater responsibility for advancing the causes they believe in instead of expecting others to do all the work.

‘I Am Free To Support Whoever I Want’

Fayose further stated that his admiration for President Bola Tinubu and his son had never stopped him from supporting Peter Obi in the past.

Describing himself as a proud Yoruba man, he said he holds President Tinubu in high regard while also maintaining a positive opinion of Seyi Tinubu.

“I am a Yoruba man. I love Tinubu with all my heart, and I love Seyi Tinubu. He is a good guy,” he said.

The businessman added that he remains free to support any politician of his choice in future elections and insisted that no one has the right to dictate his political preferences.

“If I like, I will start campaigning for Tinubu because you guys are not even worth it,” Fayose declared.

His comments have since generated mixed reactions on social media, with supporters of different political camps debating his claims and his decision to publicly defend his meeting with Seyi Tinubu.
