According to a video posted on YouTube by Trust TV on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the killing of Islamic teacher Ummul Khairi in Maraban Jos, Kaduna State, has continued to spark outrage, with fresh details from eyewitnesses and recent reports highlighting how the situation escalated from a disputed allegation into a deadly mob attack despite police intervention.

The victim, an Islamic teacher and mother, was reportedly on her way to deliver a religious lecture when she was confronted over allegations of child theft that have not been substantiated by authorities or community leaders.

Eyewitness accounts and earlier reports indicate that she was taken to a police station for protection as tensions rose in the area, but the situation soon deteriorated outside the facility.

In a widely shared account, her friend Hauwa Abubakar described how attempts to stop the attack failed as the crowd turned violent. She said:

“I Pleaded with them not to kill her because she was innocent. They refused to listen. After setting our teacher’s motorcycle on fire, the crowd attacked her, she was beaten and later killed.”

Security-focused reporting also indicates that the situation escalated further when a mob besieged the police station, forcing officers to struggle to contain the growing unrest before the victim was eventually exposed to the crowd outside.

The Kaduna State Police Command has since condemned the killing and confirmed that investigations are ongoing. Authorities also announced the arrest of more than 100 suspects in connection with the incident, stating that those found culpable will face prosecution in accordance with the law.
