“I kept dollars, pounds and even naira notes” – Woman cries out after breaking savings box, finds only ₦12k

A Nigerian woman cried out online after sharing a shocking experience involving a savings box she had been using for over two years.

According to her, she had been consistently putting money into the box, including cash gifts, birthday money, pounds, dollars, and thousands of naira notes, with the hope of using the funds for something remarkable.

Narrating the ordeal, she said:

“Things dey happen oo. I’ve been saving money in this safe box for two years now. If I calculate the money I’ve been putting there, it should be more than ₦1 million.”

The woman said she recently decided to break open the box so she could use the money to buy a popcorn machine.

However, she was left stunned when she allegedly discovered that only ₦12,000 remained inside despite believing she had saved well over ₦1 million.

“I was the one that broke it myself. There was no sign that anybody tampered with it. But when I opened it, I saw only ₦12,000. The dollars, pounds, and all the cash I kept there were gone,” she added.

The video has generated mixed reactions online, while some social media users suggested that the box may have had a hidden opening, others jokingly blamed spiritual forces for the mysterious disappearance.

Still trying to understand what happened, the woman warned people against buying savings boxes, insisting that she could not explain how such a large amount of money allegedly disappeared without any visible sign of tampering.
