“He Tried to Snatch My Gold Chain” — Woman Recounts Shocking Encounter With Young Boy at Traffic Light

A Nigerian woman has sparked widespread reactions online after sharing a disturbing experience she allegedly had with a young boy while stopped at a traffic light in Abuja.

The incident, which she narrated in a viral video posted on X (formerly Twitter), reportedly occurred in the Wuse area shortly after she had finished a workout session at the gym.

According to the woman, she was waiting at a traffic light when a young Almajiri boy approached her vehicle, a sight commonly seen at busy intersections in the city.

However, she claimed that the boy’s behavior immediately stood out because of how aggressively he knocked on her car window.

Recalling the incident, she said she initially feared the force of the knocks could damage the glass.

“This small boy, one of these Almajiri boys, he should be like 7 to 9 years old. He came to my window and was knocking so hard. I could literally feel like my glass was breaking,” she said.

The woman explained that she eventually rolled down her window in an attempt to calm the situation and speak to the boy.

Instead, she claimed the encounter became even more unsettling.

According to her, the boy prevented her from immediately winding the window back up and repeatedly demanded money.

Moments later, as the traffic light changed and vehicles began moving, she alleged that the child made a sudden attempt to grab her jewelry.

“When the light turned green, I just felt something on my chest like a slap. This boy tried to grab my gold chain, he cut it and ran away,” she recounted.

The woman said she was left shocked by the incident, particularly because the boy appeared to be very young.

She described the experience as traumatic and said she never expected such behavior from a child she estimated to be between seven and nine years old.

Since the video surfaced online, it has generated significant discussion on social media.

Many users expressed concern about street begging and the welfare of vulnerable children who spend their days on major roads.

Others focused on the security implications of the incident, noting that motorists can become easy targets while waiting at traffic lights.
