He Never Resigned – APC Says Pantami Still Party Member

The Gombe State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has maintained that former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Ali Pantami, is still a member of the party despite his emergence as the governorship candidate of the PDP in Gombe State.

Naija News reports that the party made its position known on Tuesday during a press briefing in Gombe.

Speaking on behalf of the party, APC Publicity Secretary, Moses Kyari, said the process required for a member to leave the party was not properly carried out in Pantami’s case.

The controversy followed Pantami’s emergence as the PDP governorship candidate after the APC primary election that produced Jamilu Gwamna as the party’s flag bearer.

Kyari explained that the APC executive committee in Pantami’s ward had already stated that it did not receive any resignation letter from the former minister.

According to him, the ward officials also said they never met to discuss or approve any resignation linked to Pantami.

He noted that most members of the ward executive committee publicly denied having knowledge of any resignation letter allegedly submitted by the former minister.

The officials reportedly described the claim as one that was carried out without their awareness or approval.

The APC spokesman added that requests made by ward executives to obtain a copy of the alleged resignation letter have not been successful, leaving the party without any official record confirming Pantami’s exit.

He said: “As you may recall, twenty-five out of the twenty-seven members of the Ward Executive Committee publicly stated that they neither saw nor deliberated on any resignation letter purportedly submitted by Professor Ali Isa Pantami.

“They maintained that the claim was merely a fabrication orchestrated without the knowledge or approval of the Ward Executive Committee. Despite repeated requests, members of the Ward Executive Committee have not been provided with a copy of the said letter.

“It is therefore our position that Professor Ali Isa Pantami remains a member of the APC until all due processes are properly followed and verified.”
