FG Arraigns 400 Terrorism Suspects In Court

The federal government of Nigeria on Monday, arraigned over 400 terrorism suspects for prosecution.

Naija News understands that the trials are taking place in different courts at the Federal High Court complex in Abuja.

The prosecuting team is led by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) and supported by the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN).

The defendants are facing charges linked to terrorism, aiding and abetting insurgent activities, and financing.

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, had assembled a special panel of judges to preside over the cases.

The AGF represents the Federal Government, while Legal Defence for indigent suspects is being provided by the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria.

These mass trials mark a push by the government to expedite delayed terrorism cases, with proceedings now taking place in Abuja rather than the military facility in Kainji, Niger State.
