Enugu Nursing School Official Who Suspended Student for Exposing Rot, Slapped Pregnant Student, Reportedly Expelled

Education advocate and activist Alex Onyia has announced that Ifeyinwa Okwudo has been expelled from Ezzy College of Nursing in Enugu State.

According to Onyia, Okwudo was the official who previously imposed an indefinite suspension on Joy Ezeugwu after the student allegedly exposed the poor and dilapidated condition of the Uwani Health Centre in Enugu.

He further alleged that Okwudo was recently involved in another controversy after reportedly slapping a student who was nine months pregnant on three occasions.

Reacting to the reported development, Onyia described the expulsion as a warning to individuals who abuse their positions of authority within educational institutions.

In a strongly worded statement, he declared that students should not be subjected to intimidation, oppression, or victimisation for speaking out about issues affecting their welfare and learning environment.

“To those of you oppressing our students: it’s only a matter of time before we shine our light on you,” Onyia stated.

The development comes amid growing public attention on student rights, institutional accountability, and the treatment of students within tertiary institutions across Nigeria. However, as of the time of reporting, there has been no official statement from the college management regarding the circumstances surrounding the reported expulsion.
