Delta Activist Calls Out Police Officer Over Alleged Blackmail of Wife Using Intimate Videos

A Delta State-based human rights activist, Israel Joe, has accused a police officer, identified as ASP Mieyebo Victor, of allegedly blackmailing his wife by distributing explicit videos of her to family members and other contacts.

In a statement shared on Facebook, Joe alleged that the officer, who is currently serving with the Delta State Police Command, met his wife over two decades ago while he was posted to Ondo State. According to the activist, the couple has been married for about 21 years and has three children together.

Joe claimed that throughout the marriage, the officer allegedly pressured his wife into recording and sending intimate videos of herself whenever he was away from home. He further alleged that the woman initially complied but was subjected to physical abuse whenever she refused to meet his demands.

According to the activist, the situation deteriorated after the officer allegedly became suspicious that another man was communicating with his wife. He claimed the officer then began sharing the woman’s private videos with her relatives, friends, and members of her secondary school and university alumni groups.

Joe alleged that more than 50 explicit files have been circulated by the officer, adding that the woman has become suicidal as a result of the alleged abuse and humiliation.

The activist further claimed that the woman later returned to her parents’ home before being persuaded to meet with her husband again. He alleged that during the visit, the officer physically assaulted and sexually assaulted her.

Joe said the matter was subsequently reported to the Area Commander in Ughelli, who allegedly intervened in an attempt to resolve the dispute. According to him, the commander personally deleted over 100 explicit videos from the officer’s mobile phone and directed that the device be formatted.

Despite the intervention, Joe alleged that the officer continued to distribute the videos.

The activist said he personally contacted the officer to discuss possible ways of resolving the matter and preventing further circulation of the videos. According to Joe, the officer initially indicated a willingness to reconcile with his wife but allegedly resumed sharing the materials shortly afterward.

Joe has called on the Commissioner of Police in Delta State to investigate the allegations and ensure that the officer is held accountable if found culpable.

As of the time of filing this report, the Delta State Police Command has not publicly responded to the allegations, while ASP Mieyebo Victor has not issued any public statement addressing the claims.

The allegations remain unproven, and no court has found the officer guilty of any criminal offence. If the allegations are substantiated through investigation, they could amount to serious criminal offences, including alleged domestic violence, non-consensual distribution of intimate images, and sexual assault.
