BREAKING: Tinubu: “A Lot of the Governors Who Are Supporting Now, They Are Praying Silently That He Will Lose” —Momodu

According to an interview by Dele Momodu on Symfoni TV on the 9th of June, 2026, the veteran journalist and politician made fresh comments about President Bola Tinubu’s political future, claiming that some governors publicly backing the President are privately hoping he does not secure another term in office.

Speaking during the interview, Momodu alleged that although several state governors have shown open support for Tinubu, many of them are silently concerned about what a second term could mean for the balance of power within Nigeria’s political system.

According to him, the public endorsements from some governors do not necessarily reflect their personal political calculations. He claimed that many of them are supporting the President for strategic reasons while secretly wishing for a different outcome in future elections.

“A lot of the governors who are supporting now, they are praying silently that he will lose, because they know if he wins, it will become a full-blown emperor,” Momodu stated.

The former presidential aspirant argued that the concentration of political influence around one individual could have significant consequences for the nation’s democracy.
