BREAKING: All Money Donated From Abroad Were Donated To Campaign Account That Was Created By Peter Obi-Abure

According to Channels Television on Tuesday, June 9th 2026, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, has alleged that all funds donated from abroad during the 2023 presidential election campaign were paid into a campaign account created by the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Abure made the claim while responding to questions on allegations surrounding campaign finances and the management of funds raised for the election.

According to him, the Labour Party did not receive or control foreign donations made in support of Obi’s presidential bid, insisting that the funds were directed to a separate account established by the former Anambra State governor and his campaign team.

“All the money donated from abroad were donated to the campaign account that was created by Peter Obi himself,” Abure said.

The Labour Party chairman maintained that the party leadership was not responsible for the administration of campaign funds, stressing that the arrangements were made by the presidential candidate and his associates.

Abure’s comments come amid the lingering crisis within the Labour Party, which has pitted the party leadership against some prominent members, including supporters of Obi.

The LP chairman had earlier stated that campaign funds never passed through the party’s accounts. He claimed that individuals involved in Obi’s campaign structure were responsible for handling donations and expenditures during the election period.

The controversy over campaign funding has remained one of the contentious issues in the dispute between the Abure-led leadership and factions aligned with Obi.
