BREAKING NEWS: No More Hiding! FCT Police Declare War on Tinted Cars — ‘Permit or Not, We’ll Arrest You!
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, announced in the video that officers will no longer make a distinction between drivers who possess tinted-glass permits and those who do not. According to him, anyone found driving a heavily tinted vehicle could be stopped, arrested, and investigated.
The police boss explained that the renewed crackdown is aimed at tackling the increasing use of tinted vehicles by criminals involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, drug trafficking, illegal transportation of weapons, and other violent crimes.
In his words, having a permit will not automatically exempt anyone from scrutiny. He stated that officers will still investigate permit holders to determine whether they genuinely qualified for the approval before it was issued. Watch video
Sanusi also warned that motorists claiming medical reasons for using tinted glass must be ready to present verifiable medical evidence to support their claims.
According to the FCT Police Command, the intensified enforcement is part of broader efforts to strengthen security, curb criminal activities, and improve public safety across Abuja.
The announcement has already sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians. While many residents have welcomed the move as a necessary step to combat crime, others have questioned whether motorists with valid permits should still face arrest and investigation.
