Oriire School principal Mrs. Rachael Folawe Alamu has stated that she was not sexually harassed while in the captivity of her kidnappers and that seeing her husband is her current priority; she will consider other matters upon her return home. While held captive, she and the students went through a terrible trauma, which she described in detail.

Mrs. Alamu spoke to the press upon her release and revealed that there were times when they didn’t think they would make it out alive in a video that Channels Television posted. She claims the kidnappers planned their deaths in order to put pressure on the government to fulfil their demands. She thanked the authorities for their efforts and said that they didn’t know the world was interested in their case until after their release because they had feared they were done for.

The officers, governor, president, and everyone else who had a hand in getting them free were all thanked by Mrs. Alamu. She prayed that God would comfort the families of the victims and accepted that they are scarred, but she thinks they will heal.

She went on to say that staying in the open, weathered forest with the kids was not an easy task. They trusted God and the prayers of others kept them going because they saw no other way out.

She denied being beaten, but admitted that some of the kids had been. Since the kidnappers were terrified that the two youngest, Waliat and Salam, would draw attention to themselves, they subjected them to the harshest beatings.

According to her, the males endured even more brutal treatment, being blindfolded, handcuffed, and chained until only two were left, while the children were pummelling after having their mouths bound with cloth.

She detailed how, during the first week, the kidnappers would bring biscuits to the kids, but that practice eventually ended. She described how, if their whereabouts were found out, they were compelled to move, frequently having to walk for three or four hours at night beginning at seven or eight in the morning.

“Sexual molestation, no,” she said. I would like to see my spouse. I will be free to consider any alternative when I return home. However, I am certain that he will do it for me.

“We brought snacks for them the first week when we started, maybe to make them feel more at ease. But that stops somewhere down the way. The next step was to go from A to B.
