Bandits: They Were To Move Arm From Sokoto To Kabba Where They’ll Deliver To Somebody In Forest-Femi Fanwo

Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has disclosed that security agencies successfully disrupted an alleged attempt by terrorists to transport arms into Kogi through a coordinated covert operation following the killing of a notorious bandit leader in the state.

Fanwo made the revelation during an interview on Channels Television, on Tuesday, 23 June, 2026, while reacting to the recent retaliatory attacks launched by remnants of the terrorist group. He said intelligence gathering enabled security operatives to intercept the group’s plans before the weapons could reach fighters hiding in the forests.

Speaking during the interview, Fanwo said: “They were to move those arms from Sokoto to Kabba where they will deliver to somebody that will take to them in the forest. And what we did was to do what we call a covert operation by infiltrating them with the support of 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Lokoja, our hybrid forces from the office of the National Security and our local security architecture.”
