“Abeg leave that room. Na bachelor dey there.” – Man shares how robbers walked past his apartment

A man has shared how he escaped being robbed after armed thieves invaded his residential compound at night but deliberately ignored his room after concluding there was nothing valuable inside. His account has since sparked amusement and sympathy on social media.

According to the man, the intruders scaled the compound fence before breaking into the first apartment and later moved to another flat. While the robbery was ongoing, he remained inside his room without any means of defending himself.

He said he attempted to contact people for help but was unable to reach anyone as the network suddenly became unavailable, leaving him anxious as the robbers drew closer to his section of the building.

Robbers allegedly spared his room

Recounting the tense experience, the man said, “Last night, thieves entered our compound. They scaled through the fence and started r0bbing the first flat. Before anyone could react, they moved to the second flat. Meanwhile, I was inside my room, no weapon, no security, nothing nothing, even the cutlery I have at home is not sharp! Just me, my phone, and intensive prayer.”

He added that he feared he would soon become their next target.

Describing the unexpected turn of events, he said, “Then I heard one of them said; ‘Abeg leave that room. Na bachelor dey there. E no get anything valuable.’ Just Imagine. Armèd robbers looked at my room and concluded that breaking in would be a waste of their professional time.” The remark left him relieved but also embarrassed by the implication.

Social media users react

The man explained that while his neighbours woke up to discover their televisions, phones and generators had been stolen, none of his belongings were taken because the robbers never entered his room.

His humorous narration has since attracted widespread reactions online, with many social media users joking about the robbers’ assessment while others expressed gratitude that he escaped the incident unharmed.
