A 10-year-old boy has reportedly been rescued after he was allegedly found engaging in illegal gold mining, popularly known as galamsey, alone in the middle of the night.

According to reports accompanying a video circulating online, the young boy was carrying out mining activities when he became trapped in thick mud and struggled to free himself.

He reportedly remained stuck for several hours before rescuers arrived and managed to pull him out.

Footage from the scene shows the child covered in mud as people around him rushed to provide assistance.

After his rescue, the boy appeared exhausted and overwhelmed, struggling to speak while those around him questioned him about how he ended up at the mining site.

The incident has sparked concern among many people, with several expressing worry about children being exposed to dangerous mining environments that pose serious risks to their lives and safety.
