Dramatic video captured the moment a gas tanker truck allegedly hauling stolen fuel exploded into a massive fireball that rocked a Mexican city Thursday morning.

Footage on social media showed a raging inferno billowing on the horizon near the town of Tepeaca, when the tanker suddenly erupted into a monster fireball, sending thick black smoke pouring into the sky.

A loud boom echoed after the explosion, with flames visible inside the mushroom-shaped cloud of smoke.

The powerful blast ripped through an LP gas storage site in the San Juan Negrete neighborhood around 10 a.m., leaving authorities scrambling to extinguish the flames and evacuate nearby homes, hospitals, and schools, according to local media.

The tanker was allegedly transporting smuggled gasoline when it exploded.

It’s unclear if there were any injuries or fatalities.
