Why I rejected my husband’s name choice for our child – Temi Otedola
By Tolulope Oke
Nigerian actress Temi Otedola has revealed why she opposed the name choice her husband, singer and entrepreneur Mr Eazi, considered for their first child.
The couple, who are expecting their first baby, shared the light-hearted moment during a recent episode of their podcast, where they opened up about their pregnancy journey and preparations ahead of the child’s arrival.
Mr Eazi disclosed that he had considered Japan as one of the possible countries where their baby could be born.
He added that his interest in Japan went as far as searching for Japanese names for the child.
Speaking in a viral video from the podcast, Mr Eazi explained that the couple consulted nine doctors across different countries because they were unsure where they would eventually welcome their baby.
“Why exactly do we see nine doctors? Nine doctors because to give you options, not just that, because we didn’t know where we were going to be. Which country? We didn’t know which country we were going to decide on. I wanted Japan,” he said.
The singer said the consultations gave them options as they considered different countries ahead of the birth.
Temi, however, jokingly shut down her husband’s Japanese name idea.
“By the way, he’s also been looking at Japanese names and I’m like no, absolutely not,” she said.
Her reaction drew attention from fans after the clip surfaced online, with many amused by the couple’s exchange over possible baby names.
Meanwhile, Mr Eazi said the decision to consult nine doctors was influenced by their uncertainty over where they would be when the baby arrived.
According to him, they wanted to explore their medical options across different countries before making a final decision.
The couple announced in May that they were expecting their first child after discovering the pregnancy during their honeymoon in Asia.
Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola got married in a private ceremony in Iceland in August 2025.
